Bio:
Mary Hejnal, LICSW, has a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington and is licensed in the state of Washington as a Clinical Social Worker. Her education and professional training focuses on loss, grief, life transitions, trauma, pregnancy loss, post-partum adjustment and depression, anxiety and related issues. Mary currently works at Evergreen Hospice as the Bereavement Specialist, providing education and support to individuals, families and the community.
Philosophy:
My goal as a practitioner is to foster a safe and supportive environment while partnering with individuals and families, helping them reach goals that empower greater understanding, growth and change. I use a combination of approaches in my work including Client-Centered, Insight Oriented, Family of Origin and Cognitive Behavioral therapies. I am currently in the process of being certified in EMDR and Life Integration Therapy. My experience includes 15 years in the field of human services as a hospice-based bereavement specialist, child specialist, loss and grief counselor, therapist, community social worker, educator and trainer. I believe in and am committed to the health and well being of my clients; offering my experience, insight, presence, and guidance during a time of transition and healing.
